Basso and BRC at first “match-point”
To Rallye du Valais to conquer TER
After a very good season, made of successes and great performances, at Rallye du Valais Giandomenico Basso and Lorenzo Granai will have the chance to get their first “match-point” to win Tour European Rally 2017.
The Swiss race, fifth appointment of the continental series, will take place from 26th to 28th October on the fast roads near Martigny.
Basso and Granai will get to the event looking down at their adversaries from the top of the 108 points in standings won so far, but they will have to be good at setting the race on their direct opponent, paying a lot of attention not to make mistakes and watching their backs from the many local riders, who could interfere and postpone the title's assignment at the last event, which, ironically, will take place in Italy.
This is Giandomenico Basso’s comment: “I already run Rallye du Valais in 2008 and 2009, and I know we will be facing a hard task: the temperatures, the tarmac, the changing weather conditions will represent a great challenge. Recce will be more important than ever, and we should carefully adopt the best strategy in tire choice. Fortunately, my feeling with Hyundai i20 R5 increases race after race, and the good job made by BRC Gas Equipment’s team already made its results. My perceptions on early closing the championship are good.”
Shakedown starts Thursday, October 26th at 3 pm, while we will have to wait till 8.30 pm to know the starting order for the 203.72 timed kilometers, divided into two legs and 13 Special Stages.
