BRC Racing Team unveils numbers for 2020 WTCR season

The team has set its sights on both WTCR titles this year and has chosen to run with familiar numbers to the team on its two cars.

Reigning drivers’ title winner Norbert Michelisz has chosen to have the #1 on his Hyundai i30 N TCR car for the new season. His logo design has been updated for 2020, with the #1 forming part of his initials, and features the green, white, and red colours of the Hungarian flag.

His BRC Hyundai N LUKOIL Squadra Corse teammate Gabriele Tarquini returns to the #30 with which he powered to the drivers’ honours in 2018. His 2020 logo retains the homage to his nickname ‘Cinghio’, meaning ‘wild pig’, with his initials and number underneath in the colours of the Italian flag.

Team Principal of BRC Hyundai N LUKOIL Squadra Corse Gabriele Rizzo said: “Our cars this year will features numbers that have proved successful to us as a team in the past, as well as our two drivers. It’s not often that the #1 transfers from one car in a team to another, and it is an achievement of which we are incredibly proud. In our bid to clinch both WTCR titles, we are pleased to have #1 and #30 adorn our Hyundai i30 N TCR cars this year.”

Norbert Michelisz said: “After much deliberation, I have decided to have #1 on my car this year. It wasn’t an easy decision for me, as #5 has been part of my career for so many years, and was the number with which we won the drivers’ title. I’m proud to be racing with #1 in 2020 and I hope it will prove fruitful this season and deliver another title – or two.”

Gabriele Tarquini said: “While I am sad to relinquish the #1, I’m pleased to see it on Norbi’s car this season. I have decided to return to a number that has brought me a lot of success over the years. The number 30 is of course the one with which I won the title, but also pays tribute to my success in my early years of racing, as well as to the Hyundai i30 N TCR. It holds a lot of happy memories for me, and hopefully will prove lucky once again this year!”
